PRELUNGIREA PASAPOARTELOR REPUBLICII MOLDOVA
In conformitate cu amendamentele din 1 decembrie 2005 si intrate in vigoare la 30 decembrie 2005 la Legea Republicii Moldova nr.273-XIII din 9 noiembrie 1994 privind actele de identitate din sistemul national de pasapoarte, "Pasapoartele se elibereaza pe un termen de 10 ani, iar copiilor in virsta de pina la 16 ani - pe un termen de 5 ani."
Modificarea respectiva nu mai prevede prelungirea pasapoartelor. Astfel, pasapoartele eliberate anterior cu termen de valabilitate de 5 ani nu mai pot fi prelungite. In locul lor cetatenii Republicii Moldova pot obtine pasapoarte noi pentru un termen de 10 ani.

EXTENSION OF MOLDOVAN PASSPORTS
In accordance with the amendments from December 1, 2005 to the Law of the Republic of Moldova no.273-XIII from November 9, 1994 on the identification documents in the national system of passports, "Passports are issued for the term of 10 years, for children under 16 years - for 5 years".
Thus the previous Moldovan passports issued for 5 years can not be extended any more. Moldovan citizens have to apply for a new 10 years passport.
