REQUIREMENTS FOR APOSTILLE (LEGALIZATION)
(documents issued in the United States)
According to the Convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents (formerly known as the Hague Convention of 1961) all public documents which have been executed in the territory of the United States and which have to be produced in the territory of the Republic of Moldova have to be "Apostilled".
Thus, if you have a document issued in the United States (power of attorney, company by-laws, birth certificate, marriage certificate etc.) and need to present it before any public officials in Moldova you need to have your document properly certified (authorized).
Consular Assistance, Inc. can assist you with the process of certification of the documents (Apostille).
- Documents of vital records issued by state authorities (birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate).
Please note that these documents can not be notarized. Legislation of all states prohibits notaries from notarization of documents of vital records. Only local state departments of vital records are entitled to issue certified copies of birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates.
